Growing up, I always skated. It was one of those things that was like second nature. Some kids got around on their bikes; my mode of transport was my skateboard. In the neighbourhood where I grew up, there were always kids in the streets skating. We would go to malls, school grounds, parking lots or anywhere there was some kind of rail, staircase or embankment. Or, in fact, any piece of ground or object at an angle to any other piece of ground or object.
